Study tour in Manchester
On 2-6 August 2022 the study tour was organized for Georgian and Armenian EMT members in Manchester, UK. The aim of the visit was to bring European expertise and international best practices and mechanisms to the beneficiary countries to support effective functioning of EMTs in each country.
UK MED hosted the study tour. The visit included different subject related meetings and SIMEX planned and designed specifically for Georgian and Armenian EMTs based on their needs and existing resources. The program covered separate feedback sessions to analyse the lessons learnt form the conducted activities. The following topics were introduced during the visit: Introduction to UK-Med recent deployments, structure, mandate & funding, activation procedures and timeline for field deployment, HR personnel and management: team selection, composition, database, credentials, Training: curriculum and evaluations, Team health, safety, and security SOP and checklists review including: Clinical care and patient management; Medical records and reporting; Pharmacy and consumable stock management including cold chain; Logistical support and self-sufficiency capability (water, shelter, food, power, communications, and IT cargo and load plan; Water and sanitation capability and projected calculations; Overall camp layout, footprint, medical waste management; Overall health facility layout: Fixed (diagram); Fixed health facility walk-through: patient flow according to patient type, triage, waiting room, child safe area, first aid/storage, pharmacy, sterilization, ER, treatment rooms Dispensary, records, RH, isolation; Overall WASH layout (diagram); WASH walk through: water supply, medical waste management, morgue, hygiene areas, health facility, hygiene promotion, IPC, isolation; Overall Logistics Fixed (diagram); Logistics walk-through: Warehouse, Kitchen/Office, Dormitories, Power, ICT, Health Facility; Overall Mobile layout (diagram) and Mobile clinic demonstration.
