A series of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) development workshops and technical consultations were conducted with members of the Georgian and Armenian Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs).

The initiative aimed to strengthen the operational readiness and coordination capacity of national EMTs by supporting the development and refinement of SOPs aligned with international Emergency Medical Team standards.

As part of the process, online technical support sessions (office working hours) were organized for both teams. A total of 16 hours of online consultations were provided for the Georgian EMT and 16 hours for the Armenian EMT, allowing EMT representatives to work closely with an international expert during the SOP development process.

The SOP development process included five online meetings with the expert in each country. The first meeting served as an introductory workshop, where the expert presented the structure of SOPs and practical approaches for their development. The following meetings focused on reviewing draft SOPs and providing expert feedback to the EMT teams.

To ensure effective communication and collaboration, simultaneous translation was provided for all meetings, enabling direct interaction between the Armenian SOP development team and the international expert.

The SOPs were developed in both national languages and English, allowing the expert to review the English versions while ensuring that the finalized procedures remain accessible for national operational use. Based on the expert’s feedback, both Georgian and Armenian EMT teams incorporated revisions into the final versions of their SOPs.

In addition, discussions were initiated on the development of common SOPs between the Georgian and Armenian EMTs to strengthen cross-border cooperation and coordinated emergency response mechanisms.

Once the initial SOP drafts and expert feedback were completed, in-person workshops in Georgia and Armenia were planned to finalize the SOP documents, ensuring that the procedures reflect operational needs and align with international EMT coordination standards.

This initiative represents an important step toward strengthening EMT operational frameworks, improving preparedness for large-scale emergencies, and enhancing regional cooperation between Georgia and Armenia in disaster response.
